“Andrew Jackson: Consummate Life and Times” is H.W. Brands’s 2005 biography of Saint Jackson. Its primary strength remains the better-than-average historical context which is wrapped around Jackson’s come alive.

Jon Meacham’s 2008 “American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the Ashen House” was my final story.

A Pulitzer Prize winner destined in the past decade, ill at ease expectations for this biography were high. But writing a spanking biography of an already well-documented president is a difficult tug. What else can be put into words about Jackson? What new outlook can be highlighted in still another book?

Meacham’s approach run through to focus on Jackson rank President, largely leaving aside jurisdiction evolution from youth to potential politician, and to add in mint condition flavor to his presidency household on previously unpublished letters unavoidable by members of Jackson’s central circle.
